Canada Post has released a new commemorative stamp to mark the upcoming total solar eclipse in April.
Designed by Richard Nalli-Petta, the stamp features an image of the sun at the moment of totality as well as a photomontage along the bottom showing land formations on the eclipse’s path.
A line through the stamp shows the Canadian path of the eclipse, from its entrance point in southwestern Ontario to its exit point in eastern Newfoundland and Labrador.
The stamp is Canada Post’s first one to feature a solar eclipse, and was illustrated by Michal Karcz.

The solar eclipse will be visible in the area on April 8 for the first time in nearly 100 years, and Niagara Falls is being touted as one of the best places to see it.
The last time the Niagara Region saw a total eclipse was back in 1925 and there won’t be another one for 120 years.
Experts advise to not look directly at the eclipse and to pick up a pair of special eclipse glasses before the big day.
