Two flight controllers allegedly left early before deadly Air Canada crash

Two flight controllers allegedly punched out early before the deadly crash between an Air Canada jet and a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York in March.

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association confirmed the allegations.

These allegations were first reported in an emailed statement by the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

The crash between the two vehicles left two Canadian aviators dead and sent over 40 people to the hospital.

Now U.S. media reports are suggesting that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking to fire the two flight controllers.

The two flight controllers allegedly clocked out about an hour before their shift ended. This left a pair of colleagues at the LaGuardia tower without backup.

While the FAA hasn’t directly addressed the specific allegations, the agency stated it remains “committed to holding employees accountable.”
