Recall issued over unlabeled anchovy ingredient in braised beef pot pie

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation after a Toronto-based food distributor issued a recall for one of its products.

The federal agency says anyone who recently purchased a product from The Pie Commission should carefully inspect the package to make sure it isn’t one of the affected products.

Specifically, anyone with a Braised Beef Rib Pot Pie needs to be wary.

According to the recall, the issue stems from it having an unlisted ingredient — anchovy.

The CFIA says consumers should not serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled product and that it could lead to a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction to those with fish allergies.

The product comes in a 320-gram package and has a best-before date of Nov. 21, 2024.
