Canada pulls back U.S. tariffs on seafood, fish products

Finance Canada issued a statement late Wednesday evening saying Canada has recalled some of its tariffs on the U.S., including seafood and fish products.

It says it is adjusting the list of counter-tariffs against the U.S. after receiving feedback from Canadian industries. This is to protect Canada against broader economic harm.

Some Canadian seafood processors that import U.S. lobster had raised concerns that the duties would increase their costs.

Meanwhile, domestic producers feared the measures could provoke additional U.S. retaliation.

Premier Doug Ford has also issued a memo, encouraging companies to only buy Canadian.
