The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has now taken over the investigation of a blaze that gutted the home of a former Fort Erie town councilor over the weekend.
Tim Whitfield, the owner of the Young Avenue house wasn’t home when the fire started about five Saturday morning. Monday, a bulldozer was brought in to bring down the charred remains and make it safer for investigators to begin their work.
