Wind damage in Niagara

Ninety kilometre an hour wind gusts are being blamed for crushing this car in Fort Erie early Saturday.

A huge tree limb snapped at this home on Phipps Street, and landed on top of the car parked below. The car owner’s son had put the vehicle on the lawn because there was a trailer in the driveway. Neighbours say this isn’t the first time this tree posed a hazard. A few years ago another limb came down on the property next door.

Dawn Sandino is the neighbour: “This is the second time. We were next door, and I said thank God nobody got hurt right. I let my pups out here on the lawn. It could have been much worse.”

The tree limb crushed the car, but fortunately it missed the house.
