There’s more bad economic news for the Niagara region. Transcom call centre in downtown St. Catharines announced Monday it is shutting down at the end of February, throwing
260 people out of work. The inbound call centre, based at 80 King Street, services clients in the financial, retail and telecom sectors. Transcom has two other call centres in Brockville and Barrie employing about 500 people. St. Catharines workers will not be offered automatic transfers to those two sites.
