Man arrested during Pakistan Day in Toronto

A large police presence was used to push back hundreds of people in Toronto last night where a man was arrested during pakistani independence day celebrations.


Police say a man who had been drinking was involved in several altercations before he began damaging property.
That’s when he was arrested and charged with mischief just before midnight.

He was in a crowd of about 700 people.
Mounted police on horses were used to disperse the crowd.
The group was celebrating the day that marks pakistan becoming an independent country based on border lines by the British during the end of their rule of India.

Pakistan became an independent country in 1947.
The observance is a special day in the lives of Toronto residents of Pakistani descent.
