Toronto police to discuss transit safety at 1:30 p.m. after violence

This announcement comes after the fourth case of violence in five days on the transit system in Toronto.

Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Toronto woman after a person was stabbed multiple times on a Toronto streetcar Tuesday afternoon.

Police have identified the person who got stabbed in the streetcar as a 23-year-old woman.

Officers say the victim was taken to hospital and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

On Wednesday, Toronto police say a teenage boy is in hospital after being stabbed on a public transit bus.

First responders say the 16-year-old victim has been taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries following reports of a stabbing shortly before 4 p.m.

The suspect is described as a person in their 20s with a medium build, wearing a blue mask and blue jacket with the hood up.
