Niagara police make third arrest in murder of 54-year-old man

Niagara police have charged a third person in connection with the murder of Fort Erie resident Leonard Aquilina.

The 54-year-old was found dead at his home in the area of Mathewson Ave. and Dovercourt Rd. around 11 p.m. on June 9.

Three days later, investigators arrested Fort Erie residents Tristan Skelton, 29, and Andrew Blaid, 29.

Both were charged with second-degree murder in Aquilina’s death.

On Wednesday, police said the investigation led to the arrest of an additional suspect.

Hendrika Skelton, of the Town of Lincoln, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

The 63-year-old is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
