Prostate cancer drug

A drug approved last year by Health Canada for some men with advanced prostate cancer may also help men with earlier stages of the disease.

The drug is called “Zytiga” by Johnson and Johnson.

A new study of nearly 1,100 men with prostate cancer found the drug doubled the time patients lived without their cancer getting worse.

The drug also seemed to improve survival rates, but researchers say it will take longer follow-up to know for sure.
