American-Canadian comedian and writer Joe Flaherty has died at 82.

Flaherty, best known for his performances on the Canadian sketch-comedy show Second City Television (SCTV), passed away on April 1.

Flaherty made his name on SCTV while playing characters like Count Floyd and newsman Floyd Robertson.

His most iconic character, however, may have been the SCTV station manager Guy Caballero.

He also starred in the show Freaks and Geeks and the Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore.

800 Pound Gorilla reported in February that Flaherty’s health had taken a turn for the worse and shared a fundraiser that was started on his behalf.

On Tuesday, Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie shared his condolences for Flaherty on social media.
