In the wake of the shooting that killed 12 people at the Washington naval yard on Monday, it was confirmed there was only one shooter, 34-year old Aaron Alexis. He was a contractor who had the proper security credentials to get on the base. Now, much of the focus of the investigation is centered on that pass.

The fact that Aaron Alexis was cleared onto the naval base in Washington Monday, apparently concealing his shotgun, is prompting hard questions about *why* given his history, he was able to keep his secret-level security clearance.
