Union representing Canada’s border workers reach tentative deal

The union representing Canada’s border workers says it has reached a tentative deal with its employer.
On Friday, job action was expected to take place if a deal was not reached by the end of the day — but when the deadline for a deal came around, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) released a statement saying negotiation would continue until Wednesday.
However, on Tuesday, PSAC and the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) announced that it had reached a tentative deal that will avoid potential job action at Canada’s border.
“Our bargaining team couldn’t have won this agreement without the strength and support shown by thousands of members across the country who took action to support our bargaining team,” said Mark Weber, CIU National President.
The details surrounding the new agreement remain unknown and won’t be revealed until Thursday.
Both PSAC and CIU say they’re refraining from scheduling media interviews until then.
