Wednesday marks the beginning of two important days of hearings for 20,000 U.S. Steel pensioners and the city of Hamilton.

The hearing comes as the court appointed monitor is recommending U.S. Steel be allowed to stop paying more than $110,000,000 a year in pension and benefit payments to former Canadian workers and $6,000,000 in city property taxes.

The company is in bankruptcy protection.

It will all come down to what a bankruptcy judge decides in the next two days of hearings.
