According to the White House, Wednesday is deadline day for many of its trading partners to provide their best offer on a new trade deal.

Tuesday, the U.S press secretary did not specifically name Canada, but confirmed the U.S. trade representative’s office sent letters to trade partners about their demands.

U.S. President Donald Trump intends to invoke more economic hardship after signing an executive order to double tariffs on steel and aluminum Tuesday afternoon.

We saw Monday that Prime Minister Mark Carney and Canada’s premiers met to discuss building a broader national, self-sustaining economy.  Ottawa went a step further regarding border security, a key demand from Trump.
