Hamilton police arrested and charged three people accused of fleeing the scene of a collision involving a stolen vehicle.
The two-vehicle crash happened last Thursday around 1 p.m. when officers were sent to the area of Garth Street near the Linc.
Five men allegedly left the black Honda Accord on foot after the collision, with a witness reporting that one of them was holding a handgun while running.
An off-duty officer who witnessed the incident immediately intervened and successfully apprehended two of the fleeing individuals.
Those accused were arrested as responding patrol officers arrived on scene and a can of bear spray was located in their possession.

A third suspect who was attempting to hide on a nearby property was located shortly after.
A 19-year-old man, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old youth have all been charged with occupant of a motor vehicle without consent while the two youths have also been charged with the possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police continue to search for the two outstanding suspects and no firearm has been recovered in this ongoing investigation.
