Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward announced on Wednesday in a press conference that she is running for mayor again.

Meed Ward has served the city for the last 16 years, eight as the mayor and eight before that as a city councillor.

“We live in uncertain times and residents across the province, our city and country are feeling the pressures of affordability, rising costs, global uncertainty, tariffs, new ones just announced today,” she says.

“And these times of uncertainty call for steady hands and relationships that have been built at all levels of government through years of trusted work. We need those steady hands in unsteady times to move us forward and keep the momentum going for what we built here in Burlington.”

The mayor’s campaign focuses on city concerns including investing in infrastructure and public safety, taking action on traffic and congestion and bringing voters’ voices to every level of government.

Ward 2 Coun. Lisa Kearns and Ward 3 Coun. Rory Nisan are also running for mayor.

From Oct. 14 to 26, eligible voters in Burlington will vote to elect the mayor, six members of city council (one in each ward) and school board trustees.
