Fighting continues as Israel-Hamas war reaches 100 days

The war between Israel and Hamas has passed the 100 day benchmark.
Today, Houthi rebels in Yemen fired an anti-ship ballistic missile in the Gulf of Aden.
The rebels have been attacking and hijacking cargo ships in the Red Sea since November in response to Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
The Houthis say they have been targeting Israel-linked ships, however most of the ships that have been attacked have not been found to hold any direct connection.
This attack comes after British and American warplanes carried out a successful series of strikes on 13 Houthi military targets in Yemen over the last few days.
UK’s prime minister, Rishi Sunak, said he does not take the decision to use force against others lightly and stresses this action was taken in self defense.
The defense department says Canadian military members helped plan the attacks but no Canadian assets were involved.
A UK Maritime security firm says today’s Houthi missile strike on the US owned and operated Gibraltar Eagle was in response to those attacks.
Prime Minister Sunak is calling for an end to the threats to shipping and a release of all illegally detained vessels and crew.

In Israel at least one person has died and 17 more are injured after a terrorist ramming attack in the city of Ra’anana.
According to Israeli police “a suspect who is in police custody and is believed to be a Hebron resident, stole a vehicle and used it to commit multiple car ramming attacks.”
The Terror group also released graphic and disturbing videos featuring three Israelis taken captive on Oct. 7 and revealed two of the three are now dead.
Noa Argamani, 26, one of the Israelis taken by Hamas was used to announce the deaths of 53-year-old Yossi Sharabi and 38-year-old Itai Svirsky. Hamas says the two died during air strikes initiated by Israel which Israel has denied.

Israeli troops continue operations in North Gaza and in Khan Younis today.
UN agencies say Gazans are at risk of dying of hunger; just kilometres away from food trucks waiting to enter the enclave.
Samer Abdeljaber from the World Food Programme says “the needs are rising faster than we are able to respond. We need to be able to bring in more supplies and we need safe access to reach people”
