St. Catharines city council has approved a by-law banning the display of election signs on non-residential properties.

The by-law passed Monday night is effective immediately and only permits one election sign per candidate on residential properties.

It applies to all elections, including the provincial vote and the Port Dalhousie council by-election.

Council voted 8-2 in favour.

It’s unclear how exactly this will be enforced.
