People in St. Catharines will now be required to wear masks in common areas of apartment buildings, condos and hotels.
Council passed the addition to the mask bylaw on Tuesday night.
Masks are now required in common areas such as lobbies, elevators, meeting rooms and laundry rooms.
It comes into effect immediately.
With this, the city joins several other municipalities with similar rules, including Hamilton, Halton and Toronto.
St. Catharines mask bylaw initially came into effect on July 17.
Niagara Region has its own mask bylaw that applies to the entire region.
There are exemptions to the bylaw, including children under the age of 10 and people with medical condition.
