The police watchdog has now confirmed that two Hamilton police officers shot and killed a 19 year old man on the Hamilton Mountain Tuesday afternoon.

The SIU says it all started when Hamilton police received two phone calls about a man armed with a weapon out on the street.

“I’m not prepared to disclose what the weapon was, we are asking witnesses who may have information to call us and tell us what they saw and heard.” SIU.

The SIU wouldn’t say whether the officers tazed the 19 year old before firing their weapons.

Neighbours say the young man’s family has lived on Caledon avenue for at least 15 years.

The SIU investigates whenever police are involved in a death or serious injury.
