Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after a resident in Angus, Ont. found a sewing needle inside a candy bar.

Police were contacted on Monday after the resident discovered the needle inside a chocolate bar they had purchased the day before.

Officers inspected the wrapping of the candy bar but were unable to determine if the needle was inserted during or after manufacturing.

Police say the store where the bar was purchased and the manufacturing company were notified about the incident. Police say the company is taking the appropriate steps to ensure that “all quality standards are being upheld.”

OPP is encouraging local residents to inspect the wrappers of candy bars before eating them.

Anyone with information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact OPP.
