Road closures expected as Hamilton prepares for 55th annual JUNO Awards

In preparation for the 55th annual JUNO Awards at TD Coliseum in Hamilton, the city is warning residents of upcoming road closures and lane restrictions.

Starting Tuesday at 7 a.m., Bay Street North from King Street West to York Boulevard will be closed until March 31 at 5 p.m.

Parking access on Bay Street North into Jackson Square will not be available on March 29 as Market Street at Bay Street will be closed.

On all other days during the road closure, access will still be available via Market Street at Caroline Street.

Main Street between MacNab Street South and James Street South will see the north curbside lane closed starting March 26 at 7 a.m. until March 30 at 2 a.m.

City staff warn that delays are to be expected for eastbound buses travelling on Main Street between Queen Street South and James Street South.

Main Street between Bay Street South and Summers Lane will see an additional north curbside lane restriction March 28 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Public transit will also be affected, with bus routes seeing detours starting from March 24 at 7 a.m. to March 31 at 7 p.m., including 4 Bayfront, 7 Locke and 8 York.

Additionally, the bus stop at 120 King St. West will be out of service March 29. Riders can use the stops at King and James streets or at King and Caroline streets.

Along with vehicle road closures, the Bay Street North cycling lane from King Street West to York Boulevard will be closed on March 29.

Cyclists will also see detours in effect March 24 to 28 and again March 30 to 31.

Northbound cyclists will have to go through Market Street, Hess Street North and York Boulevard to reconnect with Bay Street South and southbound cyclists will be detoured through Cannon Street West, Hess Street North, York Boulevard, Caroline Street North and Market Street to reconnect with Bay Street South.

HSR is allowing JUNO Awards broadcast ticket holders onto regular routes free of charge by showing their ticket to the driver starting at 3 p.m. until end of service.
