Grape growers of Ontario got a special visit by a Canadian icon in plaid in St Catharines today.

Red Green (Steve Smith) gave a speech to kick off the 61st annual Niagara Grape and Wine Festival, which opens Friday night. The Red Green Show has received 27 Gemini nominations, and Smith has won three of them.

The star of one of Canada’s longest running comedies lives in Hamilton with his wife, and is known to promote the area.
