Brantford police have arrested a 21-year-old man from Quebec for stealing a car and then ramming two police cruisers with it.
Officers say they responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at a property on Bilanski Farm Road on Tuesday at around 4 p.m.
Police say they blocked the vehicle at the intersection of Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Elgin Street when the accused rammed the cruisers with the stolen vehicle.
Both police cruisers were significantly damaged from the incident.
The accused then ran away from the stolen vehicle toward Campbell Street before he was arrested at Elgin and Stanley Streets.
The 21-year-old was charged with dangerous operation and theft of a car as well as possession of stolen property over $5,000.
The accused has been held for a bail hearing.
Brantford police warn of car thefts increasing in the area saying higher-end Toyota, Lexus and Dodge vehicles have been the most common targets.
Police add that between July 28 and July 30, seven similar vehicles have been stolen at separate addresses.
