Porter Airlines announced Friday the launching of two new routes connecting John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport to Winnipeg and St. John’s.

Both routes will be using Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, featuring a two-by-two configuration and free WiFi for passengers.

The airline says fliers can also enjoy complimentary beer and wine, and free Canadian snacks, with fresh meals available for purchase.

“The addition of Winnipeg and St. John’s gives travellers the ability to choose Porter for these destinations and enjoy their flying experience the moment they step onboard our aircraft,” said Andrew Pierce, the Porter Airlines vice president of network planning and reporting in a statement.

Beginning Thursday, nonstop service began between Hamilton and Winnipeg, with up to six weekly round trips. Flights from Hamilton would leave at 7 a.m. and arrive in Winnipeg at around 8:25 a.m., and the return flight would leave Winnipeg at 6:55 p.m. and return by approximately 10:09 p.m. — all times are designated as local.

The new connection between Hamilton and St. John’s took off Friday, with daily service scheduled to come by late June. The flight from Hamilton would leave at around 9:10 a.m. and arrive in St. John’s at 1:50 p.m., and the return flight would leave at 2:45 p.m. and land in Hamilton at around 4:50 p.m.

The airline has been adding more routes to Hamilton’s airport in the last few months, with new connections to Ottawa and Montreal being announced in March.
