Burlington firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment on Lakeshore Road Sunday afternoon, after multiple reports of smoke and flames.

The Burlington Fire Chief Drew Boys told CHCH News that heavy smoke and visible flames were seen at around 12:45 p.m. coming from an apartment unit on the top floor.

He said eight apparatus were operating on the scene and quickly brought the fire under control.

Boys said Halton police and paramedics were assisting at the incident, but luckily reported no injuries to members of the public or emergency personnel operating at the scene.

He said residents are now being permitted back into their homes as crews continue overhaul and ventilation operations.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and Burlington Fire investigators will be working to determine the cause of the fire.
