We’re learning the names of “some” of the 88 Canadians who will be named to the Order of Canada in 2014. Several are very well known.
They include filmmaker Sarah Polley, author Douglas Coupland and the singer-songwriters behind the success of the band Blue Rodeo. 58-year old Jim Cuddy and 59-year old Greg Keelor have been making music together since teaming up in high school. Together their sound, described variously as roots rock and alternative-country, has pushed more than three million discs, a collaboration that includes 12 studio albums, three live recordings and a greatest hits compilation. Hamilton native and journalist Steve Paikin has also been appointed to the Order. Last month, Paikin was one of several new inductees into Hamilton’s Gallery of Distinction.
