OPP arrest two in Oakville after vehicle theft in Norfolk County

Ontario Provincial Police say they have arrested two people in Oakville after observing a vehicle reported stolen in Norfolk County.

On June 20 at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers were patrolling on Concession 12 Townsend when they saw an individual driving a vehicle previously reported stolen in Norfolk County.

They add that the vehicle fled the area and was later located in Waterford, Ont. They fled from the police once again.

The next day, Halton police officers located the same vehicle in Oakville. Authorities determined it was the same individual driving the vehicle the previous day. The driver and a passenger were then taken into custody.

Investigators say they searched the vehicle, which led to the recovery of a large quantity of suspected stolen property, including coin collections, military medals, bank cards, cheques, cell phones and other personal belongings.

Also found in the vehicle were multiple personal identifications such as passports, driver’s licences and health cards.

As a result, 42-year-old Christopher Schram of Norfolk County has been charged with the following:

  • Operation while prohibited (eight counts)
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.

Brittany Campbell, 38, also of Norfolk County is facing the following charges:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Public mischief
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada

Authorities say some of the recovered property belongs to individuals both within and outside Norfolk County. They believe some of the items may be linked to incidents not yet reported to police.
Efforts are underway to identify the owners of the stolen property and return it to them.
