Ontario’s science advisory table is set to release new COVID-19 modelling on Tuesday.

The province also announced Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health, will be providing an update today about the COVID-19 situation in Ontario at 1:30 p.m. The news conference will be in addition to his regular Thursday briefing.

Ontario has seen a recent surge in COVID-19 cases with the seven-day average of new cases sitting at 940. It’s the highest level seen since the decline of the third wave in June.

A rise in cases in the fall and winter months was to be expected, officials said, with the weather reaching colder temperatures and more indoor activities.

Moore will likely face questions today about the Omicron variant. At least 13 cases have been detected in the province so far.

The science table’s last pandemic projections warned about intensive care occupancy but researchers had said the immediate future was uncertain.
