Ontario reports 4,212 COVID-19 cases and 32 deaths

Ontario reported 4,212 cases of COVID-19 and 32 deaths on Wednesday.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 51,877 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were done, is 7.9 per cent.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 15,858 total cases — up 301 from Tuesday
  • 13,617 resolved cases
  • 1,645 active cases
  • 349 deaths  — up one from Tuesday
  • 140 in hospital

Halton

  • 13,823 total cases — up 133 from Tuesday
  • 12,643 resolved cases
  • 973 active cases
  • 87 in hospital
  • 207 deaths  — up one from Tuesday

Niagara

  • 12,482 total cases — up 198 from Tuesday
  • 10,077 resolved cases
  • 2,020 active cases
  • 71  in hospital
  • 385 deaths  — up one from Tuesday

Brant

  • 2,443 total cases — up 49 from Tuesday
  • 2,144 resolved cases
  • 284 active cases
  • 15 deaths
  • 11 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,068 total cases — up 31 from Tuesday
  • 1,735 resolved cases
  • 288 active cases
  • 40 deaths

The death toll is now 7,789 people.

The number of patients in hospital has dropped to 2,335 from the 2,360 reported on Tuesday. However the number of patients in intensive care and those on ventilators are both up.

There are now 790 patients in ICU, with 566 of them on ventilators.

The province says 136,695 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday, putting the total number of doses administered in the province to 4,131,882.

There are 349,396 people in the province who have received both required vaccine doses.

Another 4,204 cases have been marked as resolved.
