Ontario reports 304 new COVID-19 cases Monday

Ontario is reporting 304 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and 23 more deaths.

The daily growth rate is 1.3 per cent, which is slightly lower than Sunday’s rate of 1.5 per cent.

There have been 22,957 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Jan. 15, including 1,904 deaths and 17,638 resolved cases.

There are currently 972 people in hospital with the virus. The province says 174 of those patients are in intensive care units and of those people, 133 are on a ventilator.

Just over 9,000 tests were done on Sunday and 2,189 are still under investigation. More than 550,000 tests have been completed since the start of the outbreak.

Seven more outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes in Ontario, bringing the provincial total to 276.

The province says 42 per cent of confirmed cases of COVID-19 are people aged 60 and older.
