Some businesses in Ontario are allowed to reopen today after being closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is part of the province’s phase one of their “restart phase” to re-open the economy.

Businesses and services that are eligible to open today will still be under restrictions by having to comply with public health guidelines such as physical distancing as they welcome costumers.

The following is a list of businesses that are set to open:

      • All retail stores with a street entrance can open with limited capacity.
      • Veterinary services and animal services such as grooming.
      • All construction and limits are lifted.
      • Vehicle dealership and retailers.
      • General maintenance, and repair services.
      • All emissions inspection facilities for heavy diesel commercial vehicles and mobile inspection facilities.
      • Some non-emergency health and medical services, including in-person counselling and scheduled surgeries based on the ability to meet specified conditions.
      • Outdoor recreational sports centres for sports not played in teams, and limited facility access. This includes tennis courts, rod and gun clubs, cycling tracks, horse riding facilities, and indoor golf driving ranges.
      • Outdoor recreational amenities such as marinas.
      • Professional and amateur sport activity for individual/single competitors.
      • Libraries for pick-up or delivery.
      • Professional services related to conducting research and experimental development.
      • Households can now also employ workers concerned with household operations.

Other businesses and amenities started opening this past weekend as well including outdoor golf courses, public boat launches, and private parks and campgrounds.
