Brantford police charge 55-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking in Victoria Park

Brantford police charged a 55-year-old man Tuesday as part of a drug trafficking investigation in the city’s downtown area.

Officers say during the investigation they identified a man suspected of trafficking illegal drugs in Victoria Park near Market Street.

Detectives say a search conducted after the arrest resulted in the seizure of items including:

• 3.9 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $730;
• 8.4 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,280;
• 12 hydromorphone pills with an estimated street value of $240 and;
• an amount of Canadian currency, a set of brass knuckles and alleged drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The man that Brantford police arrested has been charged with offences in relation to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and for unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Police have not released any other information on the accused man, but they say he was held for a bail hearing.
