32-year veteran officer dies after crash near Uxbridge.
Durham Regional police say a car travelling northbound on the York-Durham line was hit by a pick-up travelling eastbound on Sandford Road yesterday afternoon.
The car was driven by 54-year-old Superintendent Mark Grant.
His finance, a 54-year-old woman from Newmarket, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 76-year-old driver of the pick-up truck suffered minor injuries.
Grant was off-duty and returning home from a conference in Chicago.
