No Canadians contestants on Jeopardy

Beyond the host there won’t be much can-con on Jeopardy going forward. Canadian contestants have been barred from competing in the popular trivia game show because according to the show’s website, Canadians are ineligible to take the online test to become a contestant.
The show says Canadians were barred from taking last month’s online test because of a change in Canada’s online privacy laws. The online test is timed and consists of 50 questions. Those who get the highest score then compete in a regional round before being placed in a pool for a chance to play in a live audition. Potential contestants can be kept in the pool for a year.
Canadians have traditionally competed in American’s most popular quiz show. According to the show international laws governing how information is shared over the internet is complex and they are working with the government to accept registrations from potential Canadian contestants. Canada’s digital privacy act and anti-spam legislation were updated in 2015 and 2014.
Canadian contestants will still appear in this season of Jeopardy because they were picked from the results of tests given a year ago but when that pool dries up so will the Canadian competitors.
