Niagara police seek man following shooting that injured a nearby dog
Niagara regional police are seeking a man after a shooting in Niagara Falls involved the injury of a husky dog early Saturday morning.
Officers say they responded a report of a shooting in Niagara Falls just after 3:30 a.m.
They attended a multi-unit apartment building on Jepson Street near Victoria Avenue where they say a male suspect was visiting other occupants.
Police say the suspect was seen to have a handgun in his waistband during the visit, and was attempting to display the gun.
Investigators say the handgun was discharged, and struck a 1-year-old husky dog that present.
The suspect then allegedly fled from the scene on foot with the handgun.
Emergency crews were able to transport the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic in critical condition and their condition has stabilized.
Police are looking for 26-year-old Anthony Angoy of Thorold who is wanted for multiple offences including careless use of a firearm, and possessing a restricted firearm with ammunition.
The Niagara Police K9 unit say they attended the area and completed a search but did not locate Angoy.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
