Niagara police charge man after investigation into child sexual exploitation

Niagara police arrested a 46-year-old man Thursday as part of an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children.

Officers say an investigation that began earlier this month, which stemmed from a found property incident where child sexual abuse and exploitation material was found on an electronic storage device.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Joseph Petonoquot of Niagara Falls.

He has been charged with offences including possessing child pornography, accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and failing to comply with a probation order.

Petonoquot remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Thursday.
