Niagara police charge driving instructor accused of sexually assaulting a student

Niagara police have charged a driving school instructor accused of sexually assaulting a young student during a lesson.

Officers launched an investigation into the allegations on May 8.

They learned that the suspect owns a driving school and is employed as a instructor for four other driving schools throughout Niagara Region.

On Wednesday, 37-year-old Nithin Peter Bennis was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

Peter Bennis remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Wednesday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Detectives believe there could be more victims and are asking anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009413.
