Man charged after theft of 40 flower vases at Hamilton cemetery

Hamilton police have arrested a man after an investigation into the theft of dozens of bronze flower vases from a local cemetery.

Between April 17 and April 19, visitors to White Chapel Memorial Garden Cemetery located on Main Street West discovered that several bronze vases by grave sites of loved ones had been removed.

Investigators determined that about 40 vases had been stolen following reports to police.

On May 13, 51-year-old Jason McIntosh was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime and operation while prohibited.

McIntosh was held for a bail hearing.

Police say they have since recovered some of the stolen items and look forward to returning them to the affected families.
