Airbus in Fort Erie has delivered four new tourist helicopters to Niagara Helicopters.
All 230 Airbus employees gathered in the hangar this morning for the $12 million handover. The H-130s seat eight people, and as the executive class of the helicopter fleet, are considered the quietest helicopter in the air.
Airbus Helicopter CEO Romain Trapp explains “the sound is reduced by 50 per cent compared to the current helicopters in their fleet, so this will make the experience of flying the helicopter and being around the helicopter much smoother and much better.”
Anna Pierce of Niagara Helicopters calls it very signigicant for them. “We’ve been talking to Airbus for years about switching fleets, and because they are local it makes life so much easier for us at Niagara because we are literally up the street from them.”
Last year Niagara Helicopters carried 100,000 tourists.
