Multiple weapons, drug charges following Norfolk County trafficking investigation

Two people are facing multiple weapons and drug-related charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Norfolk County.

Ontario Provincial Police say one of the accused is also facing several additional charges related to a firearm-related incident on Kent Street North in Simcoe.

On Jan. 16, around 10 p.m., members of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad arrested two people at a Baldwin Street location in Tillsonburg, Oxford County, in connection with a Norfolk County drug trafficking investigation.

Officers say one of the individuals was also wanted on an outstanding warrant after being identified as a suspect in an incident involving a firearm at a residence on Kent Street North on Jan. 10.

During a search, officers seized suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with Canadian currency and a loaded firearm.

Jahvon Lasalle, 25, of Brantford has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Forcible confinement – three counts,
  • Robbery using firearm (restricted or prohibited) – two counts,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – two counts,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts,
  • Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order – two counts,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order – two counts,
  • Disobeying order of court – two counts,
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court,
  • Pointing a firearm,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

Kairos Liddiard-Coull, 21, of no fixed address, with the following alleged offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.
  • Both remain in custody and are scheduled to attend a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Jan. 21.
