Mississauga man arrested after sexual assault probe at Welland daycare

Niagara police have arrested a Mississauga man following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault at a Welland daycare.

Detectives say they opened the investigation nearly two-years-ago, in August 2024, to look into allegations of sexual assault at a former Heron Street daycare.

Investigators say it was a DNA warrant that identified 61-year-old Juan Carlos Castillo-Fuenmayor of Mississauga as the individual who is believed to be responsible.

Officers charged the accused with:

  • Two counts of exposing genitals to a person under 16
  • Two counts of offering invitations of sexual touching
  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child

The accused remains in custody ahead of his bail hearing.
