It took a 35-year-old suspect approximately five hours to surrender to police after he said threatening things while leaving an establishment in Niagara Falls.
A man was asked to leave a building in the area of Buchanan Ave. and Kitchener St. around 3 p.m. on Saturday when he uttered threats.
Due to the nature of the threats, Niagara police negotiators as well as officers with the Emergency Task Unit responded to the scene.

Police say the man surrendered himself after approximately five hours.
Kidus Dawit, 35, of Niagara Falls is charged with uttering threats and failure to comply with probation.
A man of the same name was previously arrested in October 2022 for a robbery at a gas station on Queenston St. near Page St. in St. Catharines.

The suspect reportedly entered the store and selected almost $50 worth of merchandise before threatening the clerk. He then fled the scene but police were able to arrest him a short time later.
