Man, mother charged after Oakville standoff

(Updated) A 33-year old man is facing charges after barricading himself inside an Oakville home this morning.

Halton Police say an officer recognized the man who was wanted on a warrant in Toronto, and chased him as he made his way through Oakville this morning. They say he stopped at his mother’s home on Merchant’s Gate, and made his way inside after his mother threw him a set of keys out the window.

The tactical unit was called in, and the man was taken into custody several hours later.

O’Neill Thompson is charged with assaulting police and failing to comply with probation; his mother, Sandra Webb, 53, is charged with aiding and abetting.
