Makeover of Hamilton’s TD Coliseum bone of contention between developers, councillor

A multi-million-dollar makeover of Hamilton’s downtown arena is becoming a bone of contention between developers and one city councillor.

Last week, a partner to the project addressed city hall regarding downtown safety, which was then followed by concerns about how area residents and businesses will benefit from the new TD Coliseum and it’s projected success.

Ward 2 Coun. Cameron Kroetsch referred to the developers venture at the coliseum as a “mining expedition”, meaning he believes civic stakeholders around the retrofit facility might not reap the rewards of new business.

In response, the developer’s local partner calls the comments “bizarre”. CHCH News’ Jason Gaidola has the full story.
