Luxury Condos on James st.

A prominent Hamilton family is investing tens of millions of dollars into downtown Hamilton, hoping to cash in on the popularity of James street north. The re-vitalization of the city’s core has prompted the Roque family to build a luxury condo on the trendy street. The Roque family has been in Hamilton since 1960.

“My father came to Hamilton when he was 15 years old, and came straight to James street to rent an apartment.” Patricia Roque, COO Roque Group.

And they’ve lived in the north end of the city ever since. They started a roofing company in the 80’s and opened Acclamation restaurant 14 years ago.

“I’ve seen the street evolve from a no mans land to one of the most vibrant in downtown Hamilton…so many restaurants and shops.”

They’re hoping to capitalize on that vibrancy by building an 8 story luxury condo building right next to the restaurant. The 71 unit condo building is already 70% sold out. Residents will be able to move in September of 2018 and while there are some amenities in the building like a lounge bar, the developer says the main perk is just living on James street north. The units range from 670 square feet for the 1 bedrooms, to 2000 square foot penthouses. They’re selling anywhere between $280,000 all the way to $900,000, parking is additional. Construction will start on Monday.
