Jurors have gone into deliberations at the coroner’s inquest into the 2012 death of Guy Mitchell.

The special needs man was found dead in a cistern at the Ancaster group home where he was being cared for. He was told to retrieve water; it is believed he fell in and drowned. The official cause of death was drowning and hypothermia.

During the inquest jurors heard that Mitchell lived in deplorable conditions. There was no heat, running water or food, and the walls were covered in human waste. And the agency that was supposed to be checking up on Mitchell, Choices, did not inspect the entire residence.

Keri Lynn Santor, the woman in charge of the house, has disappeared. Hamilton Police say she faces an outstanding charge.

There were a number of recommendations given to the jury as suggestions, but they will give the final say on what the recommendations will be coming out of the inquest. Many of the recommendations focused on stopping the cracks that Guy Mitchell fell through, managing to find a way that it can be prevented in the future as so many people failed guy mitchell and he did die in such a tragic way.

They are expected to be out for a few hours while they go over all of the evidence.
