Illicit “magic mushroom” business shutdown by police in Brantford
Brantford police have shut down and charged a woman in connection with an illicit psilocybin, also known as “magic”, mushroom business.
Officers say that on Wednesday members of both the Brantford Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) and the Brantford Police Service Better Enforcement Action Team (BEAT) concluded a drug investigation about the sale of illicit magic mushrooms at a retail location on Colborne St.
Police obtained and executed a search warrant for the store and located over 500 grams of psilocybin mushrooms estimated to have a street value of over $5,500, around 520 grams of psilocybin edibles with an estimated street value of over $5,200, as well as drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency.

Investigators located and arrested a 26-year-old woman from Brantford in connection with the business. Upon the arrest, officers found around 0.3 grams of suspected cocaine in her possession.
The accused has been charged with possession with the purpose of trafficking, trafficking a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
The Brantford Police Service would like to remind the public that psilocybin remains a schedule III drug and a restricted substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA).
